New Yorkers are always dashing from one meeting to the next. Doesn’t mean there isn’t time for photographs. Take Miss Yellow Dress who found herself in this very state. Late for a meeting, she encountered moi. Not only am I deft at intercepting, but I’m a prodder, and prod* I did until several pictures later we ended up exchanging business cards before bidding each other casual adieus. This street portrait was captured on Fuji Pro 400H film with a Carl Zeiss 50mm lens. Yes, I know. Shooting a manual lens eats precious New York time. It requires slowly rotating the focusing ring until the intended subject is in focus. This brings me to my other point. New Yorkers are generally a nice lot. E.g., Miss Yellow Dress. How gracious it was of her to not walk off mid-shoot.
*Prodding is acceptable behavior when attempting to photograph strangers, but don’t be a jerk or anything remotely close. That’s annoying, and potentially dangerous.
